15. 10. 2021: Conferecne “Korea and Central Europe Future Cooperation”

On October 15, 2021, the Center for Asian Studies (CAS) organized the first major offline event after many months of distance (offline) activities. The international conference “Korea and Central Europe Future Cooperation” was organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Prague, the Institute of International Relations (IIR), and the Faculty of International Relations of the Prague University of Economics and Business.

The main speaker of the morning panel discussion was Mr. Chung-in Moon (chairman of the Sejong Institute and former special adviser on security issues to the president of ROK). His Excellency Tae-jin Kim (Korean Ambassador to the Czech Republic) and doc. Josef Taušer (Dean of FMV VŠE in Prague) also delivered their speeches during the morning panel. Speakers in the afternoon panel discussion were: Ms. Hae-Won Jun (Associate Professor at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security, ROK), Alica Kizeková (Head of Asia-Pacific Unit, Institute of International Relations Prague, Czech Republic), Lucia Husenicová (Member of Board, Central European Institute of Asian Studies, Slovak Republic), Tereza Novotná (Senior Associate Research Fellow, EUROPEUM/Korea-Europe Center Fellow, Czech Republic, and Research Fellow, Free University of Berlin, Germany), and doc. Zuzana Stuchlíková (Director of the Center for Asian Studies, FIR VŠE).


The conference followed up on previous events organized together with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Prague, such as the conference “Current and Future Challenges on the Korean Peninsula” from 2017.
